The main objective of SpeedySearch is to keep all search response times below 2 seconds (this includes complex queries with large result sets). Just keep in mind that 2 seconds represents the worst-case scenario for search response time!
In its core, SpeedySearch provides a baseline object model to be extended, depending on the business requirements for the solution being delivered. It’s known that Alfresco provides its own “object model” out of the box. Well, we extend this concept significantly on our plugin.
Additionally, because each project implementation can contain widely varied content types and properties, the plugin adapts to the way different projects may want to search, index and filter content.
SpeedySearch supports more robust control on searches including sorting, faceting, and paging.
We loosely couple the module user interface and business logic to the underlying and external data stores (Alfresco and other relational and business stores), enabling a more elegant evolution of the content being updated by the integration of by multiple sources.
We also provide through SpeedySearch, a custom Alfresco Development Framework based search interface that can run standalone, and an Alfresco module that can bind to the existing Alfresco search sub-system.
By introducing this facade layer on top of Alfresco, we introduce a high-performance and scalable way to interact with categorized data and we also gain complete control of how we search content. The main goal is to get search results super-fast to our end users, and we’re talking milliseconds.
